11 Tips for an Affordable yet Memorable Caribbean-Themed Wedding Party

Are you looking for a wedding party theme which is a bit on the adventurous side, but is still considered to be romantic? For this, a Caribbean party is a great option that you can consider. Some say that a Caribbean-themed party is an expensive choice for a wedding, but not if you know how to get the best value of your money. Even if you are on a tight budget, it is still possible to have a beautiful Caribbean-themed wedding party – and still end up making it look 'expensive'.

Consider the following tips and ideas for a wedding with Caribbean theme party:

1. You don't have to rent a small island or spend a fortune just so that you can have a Caribbean-themed party.
Just have the wedding ceremony and reception held at a public beach which has a beautiful view of the sunset. Having your wedding ceremony and reception at a swimming pool is also a good idea.

2. Bring out the Caribbean-themed feel to the party by using a splash of colors.
If it is not possible to use a beach or swimming pool as a venue for your wedding, you can just as easily use a different outdoor venue. Just use a lot of oranges, yellow greens, sky blues and other bright colors in your decorating scheme to maintain the Caribbean feel to your wedding party. Decorating the venue with trees, flowers, sand and sea shells will also help to bring out the look of the Caribbean theme party even if it's not held at the beach.

3. Choose a simple yet gorgeous wedding dress for the bride and a cool outfit for the groom.
The good thing about having a Caribbean theme for your wedding is that it allows you to be "creatively cheap". You don't even need to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars for an elegant bridal gown.

Having a Caribbean-themed wedding will only require the bride to don a summery white dress or a simple gown which can be suitably worn in the beach – and the groom can follow suit by wearing a simple all-white outfit. Guests can wear other tropical clothing in other colors, except for white.

4. Use a lot of bright flowers.
Go all out in decorating your Caribbean-themed party with tropical blooms like orchids, anthuriums or birds of paradise. If you're on a tight budget, you can use the flowers which are currently in season.

5. Place white lights on palm trees, shrubs and other plants.
If the after-wedding party will go well into the night, white lights placed on greenery will certainly add a more tropical island feel to the party.

6. Instead of hiring a band, just play some CD's.
You can assign a family member to take care of the sound system on the venue – make sure that the tracks played will reflect the theme of the wedding.

7. Hire a caterer that can provide an authentic Caribbean menu.
Treat your guests to a sumptuous Caribbean dinner by including dishes like coconut shrimps, conch fritters, red snappers, chickens, pork and fried plantains.

8. Make sure that the drinks served will also add color to the Caribbean-themed party.
You can mix various drinks to give your wedding guests a unique taste of the Caribbean. A tropical punch is a delicious but cheap option for a Caribbean drink. You can also try the traditional rum, sorrel drink or ginger beer.

9. Offer bite-sized samples of your wedding cake – and don't forget the Caribbean Black Cake.
Your wedding cake can have flavors like orange, coconut tart or rum. Also, don't forget to add the Caribbean Black cake to the dessert table. This is an island version of the usual fruit cake.

By following these Caribbean-themed party ideas, you will definitely have a romantic wedding without having to pay a fortune for the little details that will make your big day truly memorable for you as a couple and to all of your guests.
