Planning a Themed Party

There are many reasons to plan a themed party. It can be for a birthday, anniversary or a family reunion. Whatever your reason is for planning a themed party, get ready to have some fun. While it can seem like a very daunting task, you can enjoy yourself if you follow some simple steps. Gathering all of your information before you even decide on a theme is the first place to start. How many people will be attending, what type of party it is going to be (i.e. birthday, barbeque, or family reunion) and the location must be acknowledged. Once you have this information you will know what the theme of your party should be.

If you are planning a family member's birthday, whether it is a child or an adult, you will have an idea of what they like. This is probably the easiest themed party to plan. You can decide on how many people to invite as well as where it will be held. Usually it will be at your own home so you will know what your decorating limitations are. Since this is a very personal type of themed party you can really choose something the honoured guest loves.

Children are easy because they have so many interests and favourite characters. Some ideas for children could include a Lego or other type of building blocks party. Set up an area where they can create their own designs and give prizes to everyone. You can be creative with the prizes; best building, tallest building and strangest building to give you some ideas. Boys and girls will enjoy this themed party.

Adults may have a passion for reading or a hobby that can make a terrific themed party. Create a bookstore atmosphere and ask everyone invited to bring some books to trade. New books can be given as presents, but having a book swap gives all the themed party attendees a chance to add to their library. Bake a cake and decorate it to look like the birthday person's favourite novel.

When you have decided on the themed party you will then need to assemble the appropriate supplies. You will need quality paper to use for your invitations if you can't find one to match your themed party. Gather up your prizes and be sure they go along with the themed party idea. If you are very creative you can even bake the cake to match the theme. Your party food can be tailored to match, such as hot dogs and popcorn for a circus theme. If you use the above construction party theme, set up a table or counter to look like a lunch truck. Then the guests can pick out or make their own meals.

Planning a themed party doesn't have to be a chore. You just have to open up your mind to the possibilities. If you don't have a lot of time you can still choose a very simple themed party to host, so use these simple tips and enjoy.
