A Caribbean Theme Party takes your guests to Paradise

Set the mood for your Caribbean theme party by finding the perfect selection of music, drinks and food. Your tropical outing is very easy to organise, and your guests will love being transported to a lush romantic environment. If the weather is nice out you can set up your Caribbean theme party in your backyard. You can also throw this type of party in the dead of winter to renew everyone’s spirit. Whenever you have this Caribbean theme party though, you will be the hit of your friends.

Decide when you want to have your Caribbean theme party and then attack the details. You will need to choose your location, prepare your menu, find some exotic tropical drinks, and decide on a costume. The Caribbean has a blend of cultures. Dutch, English, Spanish and French have all asserted an influence on some part of these island nations. This gives you a lot of leeway when planning your food and your costume. Of course, you can always go for beachwear; it’s comfortable and we all have something in our closets.

Since there are so many influences in the area, why not have a sample menu of food from various countries? You can have appetizers with a Spanish flair and the main course from somewhere else. You can go online, to a bookstore or your public library to find a list of tropical drinks for your Caribbean theme party. Think about a Day at the Beach, Big Bad Voodoo Kooler or a Bigger Better Blue Lagoon. Everyone gives you a vision of the tropics, and you can make them non alcoholic for the kids.

Your decorations should be the next purchase for your Caribbean theme party. If you have a nice size backyard with a patio or deck you will be all set. Set the tables up there and leave the grassy areas for your entertainment area. You can get a little swimming pool, some sand, surround with island palm trees, and you have a great place for your guests to relax. You will want to put a big tarp down before you spread the sand so it doesn’t get onto your lawn. Hang a couple of hammocks if you have the trees or stands to do so. The tables can be simple to decorate. You can even use edible centrepieces made from carrots and green peppers for your Caribbean theme party.

Depending on whom you invite to your Caribbean theme party the pool, hammocks, food and drinks may give you enough to do. However, if you need more entertainment or the Caribbean theme party is for children you may need some games. Consider doing some research on what the native children do for entertainment. Hula hoops are always fun for children and adults. You can have a contest with prizes; the most creative, the best and the unfortunate could be some of the categories. When you have a Caribbean theme party there is one thing you must be aware of, though. It may be such a hit you will have to have one every year.
